Silent Souls Weeping…Finding Help and Hope in the Midst of Mental Illness – Jane Clayson Johnson’s Keynote Address at the Inaugural Utah Faith Summit 2023 in Logan, UT in collaboration with Paz Wellness. Emmy Award-winning journalist and author speaks at the Inaugural Utah Faith Summit organized by Paz Wellness. She shares her own personal journey through clinical depression as well as years of research, collecting hundreds of stories of others who suffer. She elevates the conversation around mental health and offers a new level of honesty, authenticity and hope in the way we treat it. Jane Clayson Johnson is an Emmy award winning journalist and author. You can hear her regularly on National Public Radio, hosting the nationally syndicated news program, Here & Now. She has been a host at WBUR in Boston for the last 18 years. Before that, she was in New York City at CBS News, hosting the network morning program. And prior to her work at CBS, she was a network correspondent at ABC News, based in Los Angeles. Jane has traveled the country and the world interviewing presidents, world leaders, scientists, authors and stars from Hollywood and Broadway. She covered the NATO airstrikes in Kosovo and refugee crisis in Macedonia, the fall of the Suharto government in Indonesia and several presidential campaigns. She famously interviewed a reluctant Martha Stewart just before Martha went to prison. Jane started her career at KSL Television in Salt Lake City and is a graduate of Brigham Young University. Jane is the author of two, best-selling books. Her first book, I Am a Mother, chronicles her decision to leave network news to have a family. Jane’s second book Silent Souls Weeping is a candid look inside the core-shaking world of clinical depression. She interviewed scores of Latter-day Saints in an effort to open a dialogue within faith communities and to promote a new level of honesty, authenticity and hope for those who suffer with mental illness. Jane is a popular speaker and has served on many boards including the Deseret Management Corporation, which oversees the media entities of the Church. She and her husband Mark Johnson served on the Presidents Advancement Council at BYU-Idaho and currently at BYU-Pathway Worldwide.
